IDB caps off 2020 with its annual Year-End Assessment and Planning Workshop

COTABATO CITY (05 January 2020) – The Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB) conducted its annual Year-End Assessment and Planning Workshop (YAPWS) last 17 December 2020 at the AlNor Convention Center – Robinsons Annex, Cotabato City. Spearheaded by IDB’s Operations, Planning and Training Section (OPTS), the endeavor was attended and participated by 39 IDB personnel composed of international, GPH and MILF, and local staff members. The YAPWS specifically aims to celebrate the accomplishments of IDB for 2020 and firm up its plans for 2021 in fulfilling its mandate of overseeing the decommissioning of MILF combatants and weapons.

The said activity also paved way for IDB to assess key issues and challenges and mitigation measures/actions taken in the entire year. The IDB personnel were also provided guidance on the current status of the preparations for the forthcoming 3rd phase of verification and decommissioning including key assumptions and projections with due consideration to the COVID-19 situation. This served as reference for each section/unit in finalizing their respective work plan for 2021.

In the entire conduct of the activity, IDB strictly adhered to the COVID-19 health and safety protocols to ensure that none of the participants will get infected of the virus given that the activity was conducted outside the Headquarters.

Since 2016, IDB has been regularly conducting its Year-End Assessment and Planning Workshop to concretize its plan towards the smooth and timely implementation of the decommissioning process. //CRA
