IDB Board conducts 2nd virtual meeting for 2021

COTABATO CITY (15 April 2021) – On 12 April 2021, the Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB) Board led by its Chairman, HE Fatih Ulusoy (Turkey), virtually convened and successfully conducted its second regular board meeting for this year via video teleconference (VTC).

The board meeting was attended by Vice-Chairman William Hovland (Norway), LtCol Amilin bin Haji Mohamad Gani (Brunei), GPH Representatives (Ret) LtGen Rey Ardo and Prof. Mario Aguja, MILF Representatives Jannati Mimbantas and Jack Abas, and Chief of Staff Einar Aas. Also joining the board meeting is the new Deputy Chief of Staff (DCoS) from Brunei, LtCol Mohammad Shalleh Ismail, who was officially introduced and welcomed by the Board members.

Key items discussed by the Board include the proposed Verification and Decommissioning Plan for Phase 3, the Japanese participation to the IDB, and updates on the ongoing preparations for the next phase of decommissioning to include the indicative work plan, among others.

The virtual conduct of the regular board meeting is part of IDB’s adaptation to the ‘new normal’ amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation to continuously affirm the fulfillment of its mandate to oversee the decommissioning process with utmost impartiality, integrity, and confidentiality. // CRA
